The Netherlands national Flag
The naval ensign of the Dutch Navy. The original flag known as the Prince's flag was created during the Dutch Revolt against the Spanish Empire by the end of the sixteenth century. The design was based on the flag of the main leader of the revolt - Prince William of Orange-Nassau. Nowadays the flag changed its color to the more dark scheme: red color replaced orange and dark blue replaced light blue colors. The flag represents the Dutch tricolor - horizontal red, white and blue equal stripes.
9 Stripes Flag
The triple Prince's flag. An alternative flag that was used on Dutch ships from the second half of the sixteenth century. Sometimes the Dutch tricolor - horizontal orange/red, white and blue stripes - was doubled or tripled to create a six, nine or eleven stripes variation of the flag. The flag consists of nine stripes: three orange, blue and white ones.
Amsterdam Admiralty Flag
The flag of the Amsterdam admiralty was established by the end of the sixteenth century. The flag represents the coat of arms of the admiralty: a golden crowned lion on the red shield with sword and arrows standing on the ground in the Dutch Garden - a fence or hedge with an entrance gate widely used in the Dutch heraldry.
Batavian Flag
The flag of the Batavian Republic - a client state of the French Republic after intervention in 1795. Shortly after the creation of the republic, the flag was ordered to be used in the navy. The flag represents the Symbol of Batavia - a scene featuring the Dutch Maiden and Leo Belgicus - in the first quarter on the Dutch tricolor - horizontal red, white and blue stripes.
Batavian Lion Flag
The flag represents the symbol of Batavian Republic - a scene on a white background featuring the Dutch Maiden with a shield, the Leo Belgicus, a lion in the form of the low countries region, a spear between them and the Phrygian cap - a symbol of liberty - on top of the spear.
No Mercy Flag
The no mercy flag - a variation of the bloedvlag or the blood flag. This flag was used in the Dutch Navy as a battle flag since the Dutch Revolt against the Spanish Empire by the end of the sixteenth century. The flag represents smoke from a battle and a naked arm equipped with a sword on a red background.
Ost India Company Flag
The first flag of the Dutch East India Company - a chartered company created in the beginning of the seventeenth century to trade with the East Indies and compete with English and, later, French trading companies. It was used on trade and war ships of the Company. The flag consists of the V-shape company logo and three stripes: orange, white and blue.
Ostende Ensign
The flag of Ostend Company - a chartered company created by the Holy Roman Empire in the first half of the eighteenth century in Austrian Netherlands to trade with the East Indies and compete with Dutch, British and French trading companies. It was used on trade and war ships of the Company. The flag consists of the German imperial eagle on a yellow background.
Prinse Geus Flag
The Dutch naval jack, also known as double princejack, was hoisted on the bowsprit of ships belonging to the Royal Dutch Navy only. It was forbidden to use this variation of the jack on merchant and civil ships. The jack is divided into twelve segments from the middle poin: four segments of white, blue and red colors.

Second Rotterdam Flag
The second flag of Rotterdam. The flag was used on ships belonging to the Rotterdam admiralty on their voyages to the West and East Indies and war duties. It consists of alternating green and white stripes, six green and five white ones.
West India Company Flag
The first flag of the Dutch West India Company - a chartered company created in the first half of the seventeenth century to trade with the West Indies and Americas. It was used on trade and war ships of the Company. The flag consists of the W-shape company logo and three stripes: orange, white and blue.
West Indische Compagnie Flag
An alternative flag of the Dutch West India Company - a chartered company created in the first half of the seventeenth century to trade with the West Indies and Americas. Sometimes the Dutch tricolor - horizontal orange/red, white and blue stripes - was doubled or tripled to create six, nine or eleven stripes variation of the flag. It was used on trade and war ships of the Company. The flag consists of eleven stripes: three orange and blue and five white ones.
Zeeland Flag
The flag of Zeeland. The flag was used on ships belonging to the Zeeland admiralty on their voyages to the West and East Indies and war duties. It consists of the red Dutch Lion on an orange background and three horizontal stripes, two blue and one white ones.
Second Zeeland Flag
The second flag of Zeeland. The flag was used on ships belonging to the Zeeland admiralty on their voyages to the West and East Indies and war duties. It consists of the orange Dutch Lion on a white background and a double Dutch tricolor on top and bottom of the flag.
